Transport from bagdogra to gangtok
hi,
I'm leaving for bagdogra from chennai on 7th june . My flight would reach bagdogra by 4 pm. I wish to know if there would be any share jeeps or any other shared transport from bagdogra to gangtok at that time in the evening.I do not want to take a cab on my own as I'm travelling single. Also kindly let me know the transport fare as well. Thanks in advance... |

I would suggest you to goto airport parking bay and look for a cab whose reg. number starts with SK. And then talk to the driver...he can drop you to NJP or nearest bus stand...from there you can get a shared taxi.
Or if you are lucky...driver may take you upto gangtok also. good luck |

yes, either you can get a shared taxi at the airport itself, or better still you can come to Siliguri and get one.
One Even if you have spend the night in Siliguri, there is no real harm in it, that is if you do not have programs for next morning. If you land at bagdogra at 4 pm, I cannot see you reaching Gangtok before 10 pm, and trust me that is bad time to reach Gangtok. Everything closes at 8 Pm.. |

@ shashank , prash,
The prob is we have plans for the next 2 days in gangtok - one day for local sight seeing and the next for tsogmo lake and nathu la. So its almost imperative for us to reach gangtok on that night. Now there is a change in plan and two more people are going to accompany me as well. So I'm planning to take a exclusive vehicle. Kindly suggest me which type of vehicle is best to reach gangtok faster and also if there is any place to have dinner enroute .. |

better to go by WagonR or Scorpio but do check for tape before hiring. And there are lot of places in between where you can take your dinner. If you wanna have it somewhere like dhaba..you can get it before reaching NJP. Otherwise you can have at restaurent also.
I forgot the name of place...but as soon as you enter Sikkim there is a town...tehre also you can have your dinner. |

Hello sharan,
cars for Gangtok are easily available from Siliguri bus stop or NJP railway station....so it will be best for you to go over there...it's just 30-45 mints away from Baghdogra airport...once you are there you have many options in your hand, whereas from Baghdogra its limited....as your flight will land on 4PM and it takes approx 4hrs to reach gangtok from Siliguri, so its better for you to go for Siliguri. Siliguri to Gangtok Sumo fare - Rs. 1200 /- [Whole Car]..or you can also avail share car... |

Since ur schedule is very tight i wud suggest you can try out the helicopter service from bagdogra to gangtok. It takes less than 30 minutes to reach gangtok. fare is about 1700 roughly. but its a 5 seater and wont move unless there r 5 person or u have to pay the extra fare of the 5 persons.

You can hire a vehicle from Airport itslef...I paid Rs.1000 for a bolero, however it was a Sikkim number car. If it is a WB car or normally expect to pay around Rs.1500.
PS : Above rates were from the Airport, from NJP it would be less, anyhow you have to go from airport to NJP, so same difference.. |

you may reduce it if you have any known person over there.. |

You'll find the info here though I think it might be slightly outdated. The price might have gone up as well. Try calling the number there and they will give you the information. |
