Hi All,

Me and my husband really liked Sikkim and would really like to shift there permanently. We both are in software development industry and need high speed stable internet connect 24/7. Can any local resident please tell me if you ever face internet problems in Sikkim even for few minutes?

Thanks

Hi sxsx!!
Since you're into software industry, you must have an idea about 'Grey areas' or 'Pocket areas' where the frequency reception is spotty. Now as we are talking about Gangtok, we all know that it's built on hills. And since it's built on hills, there will always be reception issues at times. The best solution would be to call the operators to your proposed place for a demo. There you can check the download/upload speed and decide yourself.

As for operators, BSNL, Airtel ,Tata etc. have 3G dongle services there.

Thanks for replying to my question. I have inquired with local operators and local providers have suggested me to go for a leased line. So, I think I will probably go for that.

Hi sxsx.

How is the leased line comming along? I am planning to shift to Sikkim too. I need high speed internet connectivity at all times with atleat 300 GB data usage per month. Are you facing connectivity or data usage problems even with perosnal leased line. And can you give me name and number of the local operator?

Thanks.

Hi sxsx,
Did you manage to move to sikkim and get a good internet connectivity there. I have chekced with Jio in sikkim but its very unreliable. sometimes i get around 35Mbps and sometimes just < 1 mpbs.
Haven't checked with leased line. Do post your experience with Internet connectivity. Being a software engineer myself, i expect you guys also require minimum of 10Mbps for a VPN connectivity.
