Sikkim Yuksom - Dzongri Trek end of May
Hi there,
Planning to do the Yukson - Dzongri trek from 23 May to 1 June 1. How much money will I need to organise the trek ? we are four 2. what about the cooking stove while camping out during the trek ? I have a gas cooker - do I get camping gas in gangtok or yuksom ? 3. where / how do i best arrange guides ? locally in gangtok ? or shall I already get in touch with someone by email here from Europe ? any recommendations for guides etc ? pls help Bert |

Hi Bert
If you want to start from Gangtok, you should probably organize things in advance. From Darjeeling it is easier because there are more agencies. I don't want to make advertisment for any of them here, but if you're interested let me know and I can send you email addresses. However, end of May until August is probably the worst time for trekking. Monsoon, leeches, fog - there might be small windows with good weather, but it's not guaranteed. Rhododendrons might still be in bloom, but April would be better for that. - Carsten |
