sikkim trip- cost a given by a tour operator

hi all ,
heres a mail i got from a tour operator for my visit to sikkim.pl have a look and comment if the rates quoted by him are ok and also the hotels suggested by him are nice or not.

"18/02 - Arrive at NJP. Pick up & proceed to Pelling with overnight stay at Hotel Phamarong, Pelling. Transport charges: Rs.1800
19/02 - Procced to Gangtok by 11.00 AM with overnight stay at Hotel Golden Heights. Transport charges : Rs.1600

20/02 - As of now there is plenty of snowfall at Nathula so no vehicles are reaching there so all thge tourists are going up to Tsangu Lkae & baba Mandir which are just 2/3 Kms below Nathula. This excursion will cost u Rs. 1800

21/02 - Proceed to Lachung/Yumthang Valley early in the morning. Complete package with transport, all meals & overnight stay at Dabla Inn at Lachung - next morning to Yumthang Valley, return to Lachung & then drop to Gangtok by exclusive vehicle : Rs. 6000

22/02 - Return to Gangtok late in the evening with overnight stay at Hotel Golden Heights
23/02 - Check out from Gangtok & proceed to NJP. Transport Cost Rs.1700
Hence total transport charges as above : Rs.1800+1600+1800+1700=Rs.6,90 0
Accomodation Charges:
For Lachung Package including to & fro transport, accomodation at Dabla Inn, Lachung & all meals - Rs. 6000 as above.
Accomodation for 01 night at Hotel Phamarong, Pelling on EP (Room only basis): Rs.1000.(Their normal rate is Rs.1260+10%=Rs.1386
Accomodation at Hotel Golden Heights for 03 nights on EP basis (Room only) after allowinbg u a discount of 40% on the normal rate of Rs.1750 + 10%: Rs{(1750+10%-40% of 1750)}x03 nights=Rs.1225x3Nts=Rs.3675
Hence total accomodation cahrges:Rs.6000+1000+3675=Rs.1 0,675
Hence total package cost as above with accomodation & transport :Rs.6,900+10,675=Rs.17,575
We trust we have given u a very good & discounted rates with accomodation at all good properties.
thankx in advance
regards
amit

1. How many of you are travelling together?
2. I had not stayed at the hotels that you have mentioned. There is scarcity of good accomodation at Lachung.
3. Are the transportation charges for a vehicle exclusively for you?
My suggestion is that instead of pre-booking take a shared jeep/cab from NJP to Gangtok. Check with the tour operators in Gangtok, bargain. Insist on seeing the vehicle that you would be travelling in & find out about the facilities at the hotels that you intend to stay. Day 1 go in a shared jeep to the lake & Baba temple.
Next day go on north Sikkim tour. If you share a 4WD you will save money. Return from north Sikkim & next day early morning leave for Pelling. From Pelling return to NJP.
Good luck.

Hi Amit,
The rate seems too be too low, despite being low season from a travel agent, please check about the arrangements before booking the tour.

have a nice journey.

Hi,

I completed my North Sikkim trip on 31st Jan. It was a 3d/2n trip, covering Lachen, Gurudongmar, Chopta Valley, Lachung, Yumthang, Zero Point. It was two of us only. The cost of the trip was RS9200 for two persons. The travel agent was really nice and cost effective.

But the cost may depend on the time of the year one is visiting.
When are you visiting?

I was in sikkim last month.. Let me share some cost with you.

Transport cost:
Bagdogra to Gangtok in Chevrolet Tavera - 2200 (This was prepaid)
Gangtok - Nathula - Baba Mandir - Tsomgo Lake in a Scorpio- Rs 4000 (including the cost of permit etc.)
Gangtok - Rumtek and other nearby excursion for half a day in Scorpio - Rs 2400

I stayed at Royal Plaza hotel, which I think is a ok hotel to stay.

Overall had a good experience during my visit to Gangtok. See some moments captured by me over here: http://pixbuddy.com/category/sikkim/

Hi Tribe,
5 free days from Kolkata. Train tickets to & fro New Jalpaiguri booked. Travelling with elderly parents & 2 kids in November.

Cannot decide between Darjeeling, Sikkim or Bhutan. What would you recommend (taking care that it should not be too strenuous) and why?

Thanx & Shanti,
Sujan

Mod Note: sujanroy I have deleted your post with the same question in another thread. Please only put the one question in one thread only. It becomes too confusing for us, otherwise.
