sikkim tour
hello all,
i am weighing my short vacation options - 1st week of March - and considering darjeeling & sikkim. is this good time to visit sikkim? secondly, i shall visit alone. will it become a lot costlier? i don't mind sharing jeep/taxi etc but is there a chance i can find somebody like that - may be more IM-ers? cheers!! |

As a general rule yes it would be costlier. It also depends on what you plan to do in Sikkim. For excurssions go for a shared cab.

thanks robin and jyotirmoy.
i have no problem sharing with others. it is more fun too. i spoke to a tour operator today - got his number here. he told that 3D/2N tour is in a 10 persons jeep only. he can arrange me for a 2D/1N journey for Yumtahng, Lachung. Do you guys advise that? |

They often have a different price for front seats, middle seats and back seats. Try to secure a front seat. Get in touch with few more operators. Check out the accomodation offered at Lachung. We didn't and ended up spending the night at a place which resembled a stable. We also found out that our co-travellers were paying much less than me. I had booked our trip over the net and the two young couples who travelled with us had booked the trip in Gangtok after their arrival and got much better rates after bargaining.

For me i can stay anywhere in those places. I am in love with North Sikkim and I can sacrifice anything for staying there...ha ha ha...even if it is a stable and with horse too !!! yep jyoti is right regarding seat placement in jeeps. In peak time i think they charges around 900 each for thise Trip. you can also check out Norling Tours and Travels. their no. is 953592226100 or you can call Mr.D.Bhutia of Norling Travels at 09832027475.
