Question Sikkim Tour Operators - objective reviews?

I have been in contact with a few trekking and tour operators based out of Gangtok regarding mainly transportation logistics, as well as permitting and trekking to Goecha La. But as with any arrangements, I want to get an objective assessment from others contributors about the good, the bad and the ugly.

The question is NOT for trek and tour operators currently visiting the site, but for regular travelers only:

1. Who would you RECOMMEND as a trek operator, based on your own trekking in Sikkim or Darjeeling?

2. Who would you NOT recommend or AVOID and why, what happened?

3. What did you pay for your arrangements with them? Was it more or less reasonably priced? What is a reasonable price range for trekking to Goecha La, or hiring a jeep to drive around (PER DAY)?

If you feel more comfortable giving me the information directly, send it to my email at: gk1967(at)hotmail(dot)com

Thanks.

GK, can't help with your trekking Q, but just a word of caution: you may want to delete your email addy--you'll be getting spam by the truckload. folks here can contact you via PM if they don't wish to post reviews publicly.

Talking Green eggs and SPAM

Thank you both, Tacita and the guy who despamed my e-mail. I hear you, but it is an old hotmail account for the purposes of online inquires. It has long been a target of spam! It is the reason I use this account for this type of stuff. I just turn up the spaminator, and shred most of the junk after I find those few pearls of wisdom in my inbox. My other accounts are kept close to my chest. Take care and hopefully, I can also get some information on trek operators in Sikkim from some other folks.
