Sikkim: The Definitive Road Map
when i was planning my trip to sikkim, i found scads of maps. problem was, none of them told me much about real conditions on the ground, the detailed, byzantine road system, or the topography. finally, i came across this one, published by "international travel maps," available from amazon. if you can't get it from amazon where you live, you may be able to order it from a good bookstore. i can't recommend it more highly.

They also have a website:
http://www.itmb.com/travel_maps.htm I was glad to see they actually have a map focused on Sikkim. |

Future travellers might want to check out Eicher Good Earth's map of the state of Sikkim. I own a copy each of their city maps of Mumbai and Chennai, the most amazingly detailed maps you'd have ever seen. I presume a state map of Sikkim is just as detailed. I've just ordered a copy, will post my feedback once I've received it. INR 220.

Here's the deep link.
If it's not working, go to http://maps.eicherworld.com/ and click travel guides... you should see the sikkim one listed. If you're in Kolkata/ Delhi on your way into Sikkim, and have some time, you might even get this at some biggish bookstore (which gives you the chance to reject it; since I haven't seen my copy yet I can't be sure I'm pointing you to the best there is). But in Chennai that's not happening--went to the Odyssey at Adyar, which is biggish I think--and was told they only stock the city maps from Eicher.

Hey Tacita. Just got the ITMB Sikkim map from my local map shop, and it is sweet! It does have great detail, and provides a great lay of the land. Thanks for the earlier tip.
