Has anyone been able to travel solo (either local or with rented jeep) north of Gangtok toward Yumathang or Gyagong?
As a foreign national, I am aware that there are permit issues and in some cases ... areas are off limits. But, if someone has been up in that direction, how does it compare with traveling into the more accessible western Sikkim (e.g., Pelling and Yuksom)? I realize that there is also a trek in the north from Lachen to Green Lake approaching Kangchenjunga from the northeast (vs. approaching it from the southeast via Goecha La and Yoksum/Yuksom). How does this alternative trek compare with the more popular Goecha La? Thanks again for any tidbits. Planning to travel there in October 2008. |
