Hello everyone, I'm going to Sikkim this month and I will set out on 28th. I have made a list of places to visit, please check if I'm missing something in these few days time or a better itinerary plan.
28th - Train 29th - Dzongu 30th - Lachen 31st - Gurudongmar Lake / Lachung 1st - Yumthang 2nd - Gangtok 3rd - Nathu La 4th - Pelling 5th - Back to NJP Is this right or should I change the plan, plz suggest a better plan. Can you give me some idea about expenses ? |

Nice & offbeat
Dear Anubis,
You have made an offbeat itinerary which is not normal. This is good but you need a local tour operator to execute your tour as I do not think that you can move to Dzongu directly without booking. Same thing is applicable in Lachen and Lachung. I will sugest to increase 1 day in Pelling for a whole day sight seeing and 1 day in Gangtok for Rumtek Monastery and local sight seeing inside Gangtok. But definitely plan your programme with a local tour operator beforehand as you are moving to Dzongu directly. If u need I can suggest one. Cheers Quote:

Ok, I've made another plan.
28th - Train from Chitpur. 29th - Reach Gangtok within 12 and local sight seeing. 30th - Gangtok to Nathu La. 31st - Gangtok to Lachung and night stay. 1st - Yumthang and to Lachen. 2nd - Gangtok via Gurudongmar. 3rd - Gangtok to Pelling. 4th - Stay in Pelling. 5th - Pelling to NJP. See, if it's ok. We have limited time so it's really not that good. They have packages from Gangtok for Lachen / Lachung (2night 3days / 1night 2days), I guess. |

Check whether Nathula is accessable or not during that time. But you can visit Tsomgo lake. Do not come to Gangtok directly after visiting Gurudongmar. Instead you move to Lachen and then to Lachunng. Again many roads in north sikkim are inaccessible during winter. So check before going.

Hi there, I would like to catch some of the festivities in particular those with Chaam (Lama dancing) that's happening in Sikkim in December 2009.
Some help needed on clarifications: is Losoong Sikkimese in December or January? is Sonam Losoong and Losoong Sikimese different? will there be Chaams during the Losoong Sikimese? Any where I can get reliable dates? Google-ing and web information has gotten me all confused with interchangeable terminology and different dates!!! HELP please... thanks! Penelope P/S: Apologies to the forum administrator - yes, I am re-posting this here as the other thread seems 'dead' and I really need to get the dates sorted as I have <5 days to reroute/change dates on my Kuala Lumpur-Kolkata tickets. ![]() |
