sikkim itinerary for April 2007

We are a group of 4 to 5 guys (all Indians) planning to visit Sikkim this April - Our plan is to be there at Gangtok by the first weekend of April. Can you check this itinerary and suggest any changes. I have a few questions as well at the end of this post -

Day 1 - Leave Bagdogara in the afternoon and reach Gangtok by night
Day 2 - Gangtok/Rumtek sight seeing
Day 3 - Tsomgo and Nathu-la
Day 4,5,6,7 - North Sikkim (Lachung, Yumthang, Lachen, gurudongmar)and back to Gangtok
Day 8 - Leave Gangtok for Ravangla and stay there
Day 9 - Leave Ravangla for Pelling
Day 10 - Pelling to Kechlopari lake trek
Day 11 - Lake to Yuksom trek and stay at Yuksom
Day 12 - Yuksom to Pelling
Day 13 - Stay at Pelling
Day 14 - Leave for NJP and take evening train to kolkata

1) Other than flight/train tickets do I need to do any booking now itself or can everything be managed once we reach Gangtok
2) Any good travel agents ? How expensive will the North Sikkim tour be ? We would like having a vehicle to ourselves. Is 4 days too much or is it ideal ?
3) Is it required (worth) to stopover at Ravangla ?
4) How tough is the Kechlopari Yuksom trek ? Would we need local guides for it ? Can this be arranged in Pelling ?
5) I have read that April is the right time - Would north sikkim be accessible at that time of the year

Sikkim In April

Hi!
Please find the lead to your FAQ

1) Other than flight/train tickets do I need to do any booking now itself or can everything be managed once we reach Gangtok

IT IS BETTER TO MAKE YOUR TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS PRIOR REACHING GANGTOK DURING APRIL.

2) Any good travel agents ? How expensive will the North Sikkim tour be ? We would like having a vehicle to ourselves. Is 4 days too much or is it ideal ?

EASTERN SOJOURN HOLIDAYS,this travel agency has earned a good reputation in short time, and had arranged our tour last october. You can contact Mr. Sandipan Ghosh at 09434117819. 4 days will be an excellent idea in North Sikkim if you are planning to cover YUMTHUNG & GURUDONGMAR LAKE.

3) Is it required (worth) to stopover at Ravangla ?

IT IS BETTER TO SKIP RAVANGLA AND SPEND 1 EXTRA NIGHT IN PELLING.

4) How tough is the Kechlopari Yuksom trek ? Would we need local guides for it ? Can this be arranged in Pelling ?

NOT A HARD TREK I BELEIVE IT IS ABOUT 25KM APPROX

5) I have read that April is the right time - Would north sikkim be accessible at that time of the year[/quote]

DEFINITELY

Cheers and enjoy your trip

Hi!!
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping that the booking can be done there - I guess that would have helped in bringing the prices down by checking more operators and even the vehicle.

Does anyone have any idea about the price for a 4D/3N tour to North Sikkim ? Are there a lot of hotels in Gangtok/Pelling in the Rs.500-600/- range for a double bedroom (during April)
Any contact nos. of a few more operators (just to get an idea about the pricing)
