sikkim in october'2011

hi everyone,

We (me & my wife) tour a plan to sikkim in october this year (16th to 22nd). we booked hotels & a tour to yumthang valley. the tour is as follows.

15th : train to njp (darjeeling mail).
16th : reach at njp, board to gangtok.
17th : to lachung & stay there.
18th : visit to yumthang & back to gangtok.
19th : gangtok sight seen (changu lake,baba mandir, nathula pass).
20th : to pelling & stay.
21st : pelling sight seen.
22nd : pelling to njp & train to kolkata (via darjeeling mail).

my querry is that, availabily of cars (njp to gangtok, gangtok sightseen, gangtok to pelling, pelling sightseen, pelling to njp)& their rent (sharing or exclusive)? the sightseen places (gangtok, way to yumthang & back to gangtok, pelling)?

i may cancel the booking of pelling if get a chance to visit gurudongmar lake (as my travel agent said it is impossible to them a arrange a tour to gurudongmar right now).

my travel agent charged rs. 7700.00 for lodging (gangtok & pelling) & tour to yumthong.

pl. advice me regarding the above.

The cars are generally available on the mentioned route.
The chanrge of shared car to Gangtok from NJP should be between Rs 200-250 in October.
Exclusive car should charge around Rs 2500.
For Gangtok sight seing it should be around Rs 1000 in an exclusive car.

October is the best time to visit Gurudongmar and a number of IMers are going there in Oct. I am not getting why your travel agent is saying it impossible.

Even I also surprised then & asked them the reason behind this. They said they don't get any other customer requesting this trip... so they don't want to start this right now.. may be later (at september or october) they'll start this.

What is about "Gangtok to Pelling" car fare??

This is strange. A number of people visit Gurudongmar in Oct. Have you booked a shared trip in shared car?

I do not have any idea about car fare to Pelling.

Gurudongmar should be accesible at that time unless there's some Landslide or any other incident which may force the authorities to shut the way down. In my opinion, you may try some other travel agent.
As for gangtok to pelling car fare is concerned, a reserved vehicle should cost you around 3 K.

Travel agents in Sikkim are like Mushroom plants. Anywhere you look, you shall find them in plenty. However, our very own Sikkim encyclopedia Sagar babu has zeroed down to a few reliable ones in another thread. I hereby quote him:-
