Sikkim in mid- April or mid-May

Any advantages going to Sikkim during either mid-April or mid-May, or is it about the same during these two months for blooms and views? We will be going to western Sikkim (Pelling and around) and are not looking to do any high altitude trekking.

Thanks

Everything I'v read points to April being the better time, better views, less rain and more flowers. Really the only advanatge of going in May would be higher temperatures but since your not planning on going to extreme altitude that shouldnt be a factor unless you like it really hot.

Thumbs up Hi Thim

April is a good time for visiting sikkim as you can find the rhododendrons in full bloom in different parts of the state. April is the best time for high altitude trek in sikkim of the likes of Dzongri-Goechala trek.

Thumbs up

April-May is the best time to see the riot of colorful alpine flowers in this region, especially Rhododendron, magnolia, etc.

You my view peaks if there are clouds, but the best clarity for viewing peaks is found in Nov-Jan.

Thanks for your replies. I know that the best views are in Nov/Dec, but unfortunatly we will not longer be in India then. But I think we will go in April instead of May, as there seems to be a slightly better chance of clear skies, anyway I'm sure that the flowers will beautiful!
