Why not read around the Sikkim forum you're in some to find more tips than you can handle Alternatively, get a guidebook to the region and just see what takes your fancy, then revert back here for feedback.

To be honest, you can do MUCH better than that! IMHO, seeing Gangtok and saying you've seen Sikkim is like seeing Bombay and saying you've seen India!! There's a lot more Sikkim has to offer - West Sikkim can be quite serene and relaxing, North Sikkim will be exciting and adventurous, Gangtok will be a little touristy, but great nevertheless...so if you can say what exactly you are looking for - a relaxed holiday or an active one, a touristy holiday or going off the beaten path, do you want a package, or are you ok planning your own itinerary etc, then the forum can help a lot. Ofcourse you can read up the posts on the forum - that holds a wealth of information and will help you decide what you want to see!
Happy planning!

The rains comes to the Eastern Himalayas around mid-May even. I visit Darjeeling-Sikkim in early June last year and got a lot of rain every day and got a very few chances for photography. But it is very nice to watch the clouds moving by your side. Defintely expect rain and be prepared.

Hello Yogesh,

i have been in sikkim in may once and for sure you will find some rain this season....but if you wanna go sikkim then you should try north sikkim...

My suggestive plan

Day 1: Reaching Gangtok and rest

Day 2: Visit Tsongmo Lake and babamandir...you can also try nathula pass but I think Nathula is closed

Day 3: Starting for north sikkim...its a whole day journey aprox 6-7 hrs by car and reach lachen in the evening...stay overnight.

Day 4: Early in the morning visit Gurudongmar Lake and chopta valley...its spectacular and situated at approx 17400 ft. Return to lachung at lunch and after that start you journey for lachung. Reach there and stay overnight

Day 5: Early in the morning go for Yumthang and Ymesongdom or 0 point. Those both are lovely places and at this time you may find some ice at 0 point. Then return to your lodge and afetr lunch return to gangtok.

Day 6: If you want you can go for Rabangla or Pelling.

Day 7: Returning to NJP.

Though its a nice trip but my suggestion to go sikkim in last week of January or in february. In those time north sikkim is best.

Many people didn't try to attempt those. But I suggest you to go for it. It will be great.

For north sikkim trip you will find some tour operator from Gangtok. They will provide package trip to North Sikkim included fooding and lodging.

Here are some pictures of my trip but this is in december 2007
