Sikkim homestay

I am writing to find out if anyone has had any experience staying at an organized homestay in Sikkim. I have been looking at this website: www.sikkimhomestay.com
I emailed them about more information, but have not heard back yet. My husband and I are thinking doing the Dzongu one for 2 or 3 nights would make for lovely scenery and a really interesting experience.

Have you checked the Himalayan Homestays in Sikkim http://www.himalayan-homestays.com/s...sikkimhome.htm

There is one Hotel Garuda in Pelling listed in the Hotel section of Indiamike.

Actually, it was a different email I tried. I tried the one from the website you just posted and we'll see about the reply. Thanks.

No, the email address also doesn't work for the website you posted. This is the return error message I received:

"Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

Does anyone know how to contact an organization to arrange a Sikkim homestay in the Dzongu region? And does anyone have any experience with a Sikkim homestay they could share? Thanks.

I had interacted with ECOSS wehn I was working in sikkim two years back. Initially they were really doing good work but after their project manager left they becam pretty slack. In any case if you want to do a homestay in Dzongu please send me a PM and I will reply you with the details. The person who runs the homestay is a good friend of mine.

Dzongu is a really really beautiful place, you can check my pictures over here http://picasaweb.google.co.in/piran.e/Dzongu

Piran E,
those are gorgeous photos! Qwest Himalayan Adventures has proposed a tour for 5 days that includes Lingthem, Pentong, Tingvong, some hiking around these areas, and Yumthang and an overnight in Lachung. I am waiting for a price quote. As I have not heard back from any of the official homestay organizations, I feel we will need to go with such a tour company as this. Or is it possible to arrange transportation and overnights on our own? Did you go with a tour when you saw all those places on your trip?

4Sama - Thanks, the pictures were taken in secon week of October.

Janine - The uest Himalaya itenary looks to be fine. Tingvong and Lingthem are really beautiful and you will get great views from there. Pentong is around a two hour walk from Tingviong, there are no motarable roads going all the way till that village. So you have to trek till there in any case. But you won't get any views from Pentong as it is situated deeper inside the valley.

I have worked in Sikkim for 6 months with an NGO so I have travelled extensively in Sikkim as a part of the work. I have never made use of any travel agents in Sikkim.
