Good to hear that you have managed to book a place to stay and that the hotel have promised to contact the helicopter service firm for you.Even if you do have time until February,its always a relief to have your travel arrangements confirmed well in advance;especially the helicopter charter.Hope the hotel guys are able to come good on that.

I got the lead about taking a chopper ride from Gangtok to Bagdogra from this thread and contacted my travel agent (I'm visiting Darjeeling during the mid of feb).. he promised me that he would book the helicopter ride for me..
Will keep you all posted, once I get the bookings confirmed/get the contact details..

"The Bagdogra airport is connected to Gangtok by a helicopter service which takes approx. 30 minutes to reach Gangtok. Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation(+91-3592-222634) operates this service daily at 11:00 AM from Gangtok to Bagdogra and at 2:00 PM from Bagdogra to Gangtok at a price of Rs.1500/- per person. It is a five seater chopper and mountain flights and other such tours to North Sikkim are conducted."

i did precisely the same thing after giving up on outdated contact information. i used a travel company in gangtok (potala) only for the few things i was unable to nail down myself from home, the helicopter from bagdogra to gangtok being among them. potala has since confirmed i am reserved on the date and time i need - weather permitting. they said someone would be at the airport to meet me, but that the airport terminal is small (not surprisingly) and that i'd have no problem finding the desk in any event. the cost, they said, is Rs 2000.
