Sikkim Goecha la trek in May-looking for trekking partners/trek to join

Hi there!
I'm arriving in Sikkim around the start of May (date flexible-around the 6th). I would like to do the trek from Yuksom to Goecha La and am looking for people to form a group as I am travelling alone. I would also be looking to hire a guide. If you are going to be there around that time and would be interested in joining up please email me. Also if anybody already already has a trek organised and would like more company again let me know.

Thanks for your reply. I would be interested in joining you .I'm currently booked to fly to Delhi on May 6th ( I'm from England, but am currently travelling in Vietnam) and then plan to fly to Bagdogra the next day. My flight date can be easily changed though. What date are you thinking of starting the trek? Let me know more details of your plan.

r u sure for going goecha-la in may? actually i love snow tooo much. so i plan on DEC. many of my friends warning me for the bitter cold & expecting not to reach the last view point (5000 mtr)as because of snow!! if there will be any problem, then we plan - trek upto Thansing & from there we cover Kasturi-la at a 4000 mtr.however i think the trek will be adventureous. but in MAY u easily go upto Goecha-la. there will be everything in normal. no smell of adventure. just think- the snowfall is runnig in night & we share a cup of hot coffee inside the tent!!! next day u r coming out of tent & see the whole world is white & white!!!!!

I am planning for this Gochala trek in next year. I need couple of information.

1--> I don't want to go through any agent from any where. I am planning to go yuksom and arrange porter cum cook and guide. What is the current charges for porter and guide? any idea... Actually, I am planing to go alone into this trek. Right now, I don't have any partner. So, I am trying to get an idea of total cost.

2--> I need to hire tent, sleeping bag all this thing. The dry foods I will carry from home. But stove, kerosin and other cooking stuf need to be hire. This all things are available at Yuksom.

3--> My Planned route is ;--
Day 1-> Home to Yuksom.
Day 2-> Yukson- Tshoka.
Day 3-> Tshoka - Dzongri.
Day 4-> Rest at Dzongri for acclaimatisation.
Day 5-> Dzongri - thangshing.
Day 6-> thangshing -Zemathang.
Day 7-> Zemathang -> Goecha La -> Lamaney
Day 8-> Lamuney to Kokchurang. ( Much before Kokchurang, have to take another route for DUDH POKURI (Milk lake).
Day 9-> Kochkuran to DUDH POKURI (Milk lake)
Day 10-> DUDH POKURI (Milk lake) to Tsoka
Day 11-> Tsoka to Yuksome

I am not very much clear about the route for Day 9 and Day 10.


Please let me, whatever current information u people have regarding my all three points..
