seeking info on trekking in Sikkim

I am planning on trekking in Sikkim from March 20 - April 10, 2005. Am having trouble finding info on treks other than goeche la.

I'd like a 12 - 17 day trek. Altitude is o.k. Has anyone done any amazing treks that can be done this time of year? (I don't have flexibility, unfortunately). If I went deeper into Sikkim, could I get a permit? Is there enough time to get the permit before I go to do this?

Anyone have a good trekking company? I'd like to set this up before I leave.

Last question. I'm traveling alone, but would like to join others for company and to lower the price. Anyone going during these dates?

I can suggest you to send a PM to Rob_The_Pom for tour operators info and all. He had been to Sikkim for trekking and he may give you some tips.
Moreover, you have enough time for the trek so have a look:

trekking company info

Don't know if this will help, but I've been trying to find info on trekking companies (will be in Sikkim from April 25 to May 25) and have some info.

In my searches for info on trekking companies, I found the following website from a guy that did the Goeche-La trip and highly recommended SINIOLCHU TOURS & TRAVELS (http://www.ourhimalayas.com). His website is http://www.jonathangodfrey.com. This is the only direct recommendation I have found that is not posted on a trekking companies website. He has some great photos and writeups as well.

Of course I found that website after already starting talks with a different company called Khangri Tours (http://www.khangri.com). Have no idea how good they are, but they do respond to emails fairly well (unlike most other companies I contacted).

Good luck!

Also this one: Namgyal Treks and Tours, Gangtok. This one was referred to me by a friend working with a reputed Travel Mag. I believe they are the most sought after trek organizers in Sikkim.
