October will be cool & pleasant, you will need woolens though, north Sikkim will be quite cold.
South Indian snacks like Dosa may be available some where in Gangtok but chances of finding south Indian meal is practically nil.

Depending on the length of the monsoon it might still be raining a bit over there. When I was there last year around the same time it was still raining in most places in Sikkim. Taxis were always running in Sikkim there was never any problem over there. There is one shop by the name of Metro which is quite famous for it' south indian food and there are 2-3 other places where you can get pure vegeterain food.

Roads will be open in October for sure as the GMM have declared that they are not going to strike in that month.

hi mohanji

First week of October is Ok for sightseeing as the weather will be very very good. And the sky will be clear and u will surely get a clear view of Kanchenjunga.
But there will be a major problem for sure. And it is the vehicles there in Gangtok. As here most people are Hindu and Durga puja is there most of the drivers will be on leave. That is a major problem to face.

I have planned to board 14.00 hrs return flight to calcutta from Bagdogra.
If cab is a problem, can I avail sikkim state transport bus at
(07.00 hrs) and reaches Bagdogra before 13.30 hr?
Any advance booking is required for bus?

With thanks to all.
