Pelling to Bagdogra for a 11.45 am flight to Delhi

Hi!

Seems the cheapest flight to Delhi from Bagdogra (Air Deccan) starts at 11.45, i.e. check-in at 10.45am. When does one have to leave Pelling that morning to make it for the flight? Is an early morning drive feasible?

My flight's on May-23, if the weather matters.

Are you sure? I guess Air deccan's flight departs at 1:30pm. Anyhow you will need 4-5hrs to reach baghdogra from pelling. Better to book a taxi & look for someone who is going to pickup someone so that u can bargain also.

Air Deccan used to by 14.30, I was kinda banking on that, but they've just rescheduled the flights.

Thanks. Guess 4-5 hrs, given sunrise is at 5am, is still ok. Was really praying I wouldn't have to waste the second half of the previous day travelling down to Siliguri.

Any idea what kind of costs we're talking to hire an exclusive cab to the do the trip? Particularly if I'm unlucky and there's no pickup scheduled at the other end?

shouldnt be more than 1500 in anycase.

ok, given the time constraints will live with that. We're 4 of us, so doesn't work out to a huge amount per head. Anyways share jeep comes to about 300 per head (am i right about that?), i.e. 1200 total!

I dont knw abt share taxi fare from pelling. but for gangtok its Rs160 so it shouldnt be more than that.

Since we're on the subject of Gangtok jeeps - I want to do the Siliguri-Gangtok leg early morning with a stopover at Rumtek; is that possible by say jumping off a share jeep at Rumtek and getting back onto a later one?
Or would I have to go exclusive on the vehicle? If the latter, what would that cost?

I wont suggest you to do so. Many ppl try to do same and end up paying more. Going to rumtek is not problem in share taxi but coming back is a prob. Taxis those are from rumtek doesnt goto gangtok after 2pm.

Rumtek is 25Kms from Gangtok & 12Kms off from Siliguri-Gangtok highway. better to go by private taxi, they shouldnt charge you more than Rs500...that too depends on season. I had booked a taxi for just Rs600 for 7 points including Rumtek.

And if you are going to siliguri by private taxi, then you can bargain with him to take you to rumtek also.
