your photos are stunning, mridula! among the nicest i've seen and, while i have no way of knowing, not having been there yet, they have a certain "reality" and "intimacy" about them. you also look t be having a wonderful time. i wish foreigners were allowed to natha-lu pass. thank you so much for sharing these.

i'm also now a bit more confident about the electricity. (btw, i'm staying at the pandim in pelling.) a question: were all these flowers in bloom now, during the winter? i'd quite dashed my hopes of seeing the orchids and rhododendrons.

thank you again.

Thanks a lot for your kind words for my pictures. These flowers were in bloom when I was there. However, a friend who went there in February says there is a lot more snow than what he can see in my pictures.

By reading your posts I can say you have a way with words. Have you considered blogging?

when i first got to india, i was in kolkata and i thought, wow, they sure run out of electricity a lot, must be because it's a poor area. then i went to darjeeling and thought, wow, they sure run out of electricity a lot here. then i went to bodhgaya and thought, wow, they sure run out of electricity here a lot, then i went to varanasi.... etc.
is there maybe an on/off switch so you can save your batteries in the daytime when you don't really need them?
good luck!

ah, well, i shall see what i see and not what i don't! (and i did very much enjoy your lovely photos.)

as for the writing, thank you for the kind comment, especially inasmuch as i'm equally as often lacking in lucidity as i am cogent! regardless, i would like to blog and upload photos during my upcoming trip to share with friends and family back home. unfortuntely, i'm not especially savvy when it comes to selecting from the myriad blog options. if you have some suggestions in that regard, especially concerning ease of use, perhaps you wouldn't mind PMing them to me. i'd appreciate it very much.

so glad you seem to have had such a nice trip.
