No problem dear..You will find her more energetic than you after she acclimatizes with the altitude. Carry all the medicines and the food for her. If possible an electric kettle and a small pressure cooker would be of great help.
Had she been in hills before? If not, keeping it in mind that altitude of Dzongu is more, give atleast two days in Gangtok/Singhik before you proceed farther.

I have stayed once in a homestay at Uttarey. But, I don't know the contacts. But, I can give you Deepak's number (9593783148). He arranged it for me. He is a guide from Yuksom.

Question NJP-Okhrey/Hilley-Varsey-Uttarey-Rinchenpong/Kaluk-NJP trip

Hi friends,

I am planning a 4 nights, 5 days trip to West Sikkim on 17th-20th Nov. I need some help from you people about the itinerary and stays at Okhrey/Hilley, Varsey, Uttarey and Rinchenpong/Kaluk. If you can answer the following questions that would be a gret help!

1. To visit Varsey, where is it better to stay, Okhrey or Hilley? Any hotel/lodge/homestay you can recommend? Contact number if available.

2. At Varsey, is Guras kunj best and only option to stay? Any genuine (*I read about Adhir Pal cases) contact number you can provide?

3. How cold will it be there at night? Do they provide proper bedding and blanket that will be enough to deal with the cold?

4. After staying at Varsey we want to go to Uttarey. Shall we return back to Hilley and reach Uttarey by car or can we walk down towards Dentam and get a car from there to reach Uttarey? How is the terrain from Varsey to Dentam and how long will it take to reach? Which one will be a better option?

5. Where to stay at Uttarey for better panoramic views? Which places to see there?

6. Is there any budget hotel/lodge/homestay at Rinchenpong? Or staying at Kaluk will be a better option?

Thanks for your reply in advance.

Okhrey offers better accommodations. We stayed at Sherpa lodge , a nice budget option. Contact : Mr. M. N. Sherpa : 9434137396 / 9735975880.

Guras Kunj is the best option at Barsey. You may contact Bondhu Sherpa (caretaker, Guras Kunj) - 9734141013. But mobile network is very feeble in Barsey. So getting connection may not be easier. In case you are not able to contact Bondhu, you may contact M.N. Sherpa ( of Sherpa Lodge , ph no given above) to arrange your stay at Guras Kunj.

It would be pretty cold during night. Guras Kunj is actually a trekkers' hut, a pretty basic place. They'll provide mattress & blankets .
