Hello, I am planning a trip to North Sikkim with a schedule as follows: 7th April - Gangtok - Lachung 8th April - Lachung - Yumthang - Zero Point - Katoa - Lachen 9th April - Lachen - Chopta Valley - Lake Gurudongmar - Gangtok. (or alternately, do Lachen - Gurudongmar first, and then go to Lachung - Yumthang etc) I'm coming there with my wife (we're in our late 20s); so an exclusive tour for just the two of us works out quite costly. The alternate seems to be a 'group tour' which is a group of 10+driver. I feel this would be very crowded, especially since I'm very tall (6'3"). Ideally I think a group of 4-6 would be comfortable and fun. I have spoken to Yak & Yeti, Potala and Siniolchu but none of them seem to be arranging tours for smaller groups. So I wanted to check if there is any operator who arranges tours for smaller groups. Alternately, if there is anyone else coming to Sikkim at the same time, .can we try to "form" a smaller group and book an exclusive tour? Also, do I HAVE to arrange this in advance, or is it better to fix this after arriving in Gangtok (I reach on 6th afternoon, so won't have too much time). Appreciate any suggestions/ pointers. Thanks, - JK |

Land up in Gangtok, there are hordes of operators. We were two persons and shared a 4WD with two couples, that made six of us.

Thanks Jyotirmoy for your prompt response and all the help on this and my other thread!
I am a little apprehensive, because of the permits that seem to be required - I reach Gangtok only on Sunday afternoon and want to leave on Monday morning (so that I can get back on Wed and go to Nathula on Thurs). So given that I'll have so little time - is that enough to find others to join in, find an operator, arrange permits etc? I don't want to risk missing this tour! ![]() |

Also the quotes I've got are in the region of 1800-2500 per head (for 10+driver group) or 18000-24000 for an exclusive trip. Is this reasonable, or too steep?

In your case pre-booking will be necessary I am afraid.

We are 3 of us ..reaching gangtok on the 9th.. and planning to leave for the north sikkim tour on the 10th..even we have the same problem.... we are hardly finding any ppl who can accomodate 3.... and travelling with 10 seems like a bit too fussy as the trip is quite long and tiring..... |

Very hard to find less than this at this time of year. You can have lots of operator in Gangtok to book your trip once u land up there but do verify the accomodation also. Good Luck |

Hi Saikotic, If there is some way you can reach Gangtok a day ahead, I think we can work our itineraries around so that we can group together for the N.Sikkim trip. Anyway, if you can mail me at jrkrr@hotmail.com, I'll send a detailed mail. Thanks, - JK |

I too face the same problem as I am the lone guy
Hi all
I am a guy who is based out of kolkata and am moving on to another job and want to utilize this opportunity to visit gurudongmar lake even if alone...but as most on this thread have realized tht this could be quite steep on price and boring too...it would be great if I could hop on to an existing group(group of groups my prgram is flexible...I have the dates between April 14th to April 25th to start and complete my trip.. would a lone guy have problem in finding takers since most people might be travelling in large groups and couples of course may not be too keen on entertaining a harmless young man ![]() any thoughts?
