First of all my major concern is regarding the stay in Lachen and Lachung... Will stay in these places be comfortable ?? Will the rooms be having proper heating arrangements?? It shouldnt be the case that we keep shivering all night...

I will definitely omit Katao from the schedule...

I would be bugging you a bit, every now and then, as I want this trip to be perfect... and you can be of great help by providing some firsthand info as you have been to those places around the same time...

Hope you will help me out...

One thing more... your pics at Flickr are amazing.. awesome.. mindblowing... great stuff..

Abhinav.
ohh..sure.. No problem..
First of all whether Lachung and Lachen will be comfortable or not will depend on you.. You can get heating arrangement if you pay some extra money.. otherwise you can also get it free of cost if you stay in a good hotel... In your case I think Dabla Inn will be very good and they will provide room heater.....
If you want to enjoy snow then you should go to Lachung-Yumthang... otherwise you can go to Lava-Loleygaon & Peling...It will be calm and peaceful.. just ideal for your honeymoon..
Just a piece of advice..
on Feb 19th you can do a 2D/1N or 3D/2N package to Lachung -Yumthang.... and after that just stay remaining days in Peling and Lava-Loleygaon..There are plenty to see in Peling..

24th Feb- Relax and take short walks around Pelling

25th Feb- Leave for NJP in the morning, to catch the 5:00 p.m train to Varanasi

26th Feb- Reach home !!!

Some information which I still need -
> The hotels which I have chosen, will be having good heating arrangements??
> 3000 Rs per day for a taxi, including the fuel, is less or more??
> I have quoted the price in most of the cases, these are the price range which is maximum that I can spend.... you all can guide me, whether I have planned more or less.
> Where do I need to make more provisions- Budget wise ?? or is the budget O.K ??
> Should I expect some hefty off-season discounts??
> What else do I need to plan??

Thanks for a patient reading.... and thanks in anticipation for your valuable feedbacks and suggestions.

Abhinav.
3D/2N North Sikkim trip will be very hectic as you want to go Lachen -gurudongmar,Thangu- chopta valley ,Lachung -Yumthang..

3000 Rs per day for a taxi, including the fuel, is less or more??--- I think it is little bit high..
Generally all hotels provide 10-30% discount during off season..

O.K... so I think that I will go with the classic 3D/2N North Sikkim trip, covering Lachen-Gurudongmar & Lachung-Yumthang... I will again skip Thangu-Chopta Valley... Rest of the days I will surely spend in Pelling...

Do I need to pre-book hotels in Lachen & Lachung??

Thanks again buddy !!

Is it possible to reach Gurudongmar at that time of year?? I have no experience.. so ask others Indiamike friend... I think you should pre-book your hotel in Lachung & Lachen as it is your Honeymoon... Otherwise no need to pre-book..

Hi All !!

Booked my tickets to NJP from Mughalsarai (Varanasi). So, the preparations have started...

But still confused over where to stay in Gangtok & Pelling.

After a lot of research have zeroed in on some choices. Please help in deciding among those. Remember it's my Honeymoon !!

Gangtok : 1. The Hidden Forest Retreat
2. The Cherry Guest House
3. The Oriental Hotel
4. Hotel Sonam Delek

Pelling : 1. Norbu Ghang
2. Chiminda International
3. Hotel Newa Regency

Please try to suggest from among the given choices...

Thanks
Abhinav.

Our tour included few places like Gangtok, Tsomogo lake, Lachung , Yumthang(failed to reach yumthang valley for a thick layer of snow), Katao(again failed to reach due to excessive snow),Peling.
Temperature will be very cold.In Lachung you will experience Below zero in the night..it will be around -5 to -10.
You will be able to go to Tsomogo Lake.
You can book a Mahindra Max or Sumo...
Katao-- road is very stiff.. dangerous also in this time of year..because of snow.. often car slides from the road...

So,please omit Katao from your itinerary..it's an advice..
You can go to Peling and stay there.. it will be worth of every penny.. and will be beautiful and romantic for your sweet honeymoon...

Wish you best of luck for your married life...

Dear Atanu,
I was thinking about this trip but after viewing your photos now I have made my mind that I will have to make it.
My plan is to make it in 1st week of JANUARY 2009 ( depending upon leave).
We will be in a group of 4 adults or 6 adults plus a child.
We will plan for 2n/3d tour to N/sikkim trying to cover GD Lake,Chopta,Yumgthang etc & back to Gangtok.
If we could not make it upto GD Lake or Youmnthang it will be due to snow fall & a bonus to us, so we are very much determined.
Please give me contact details of Hotel at which you stayed at Gangtok.
If we go for entire car booking basis how much it could be our total cost/per head cost for the tour? Do they have 4/6 seater cars or are all Marshal?
Our budget is for 2d/3n tour Rs 3000/4000 per head.

hey Kousik,

The tour to North Sikkim for 2D/3N for 6 adults can be done in Rs 3000/- per head. The vehicle would be a Bolero, Mahindra Maxx or Tata Sumo. Prefer Bolero or Maxx as these are safer for North Sikkim.

You could contact Yak n Yeti to arrange your tour. You need to bargain hard as this is not a peak season. Satish bardewa is the right contact and is very good at planning the tours.

All the best! Happy touring!
