Leaving for Gangtok soon

so we are all set to leave for kolkata n be reaching gangtok on 30th dec. Hotel bookings for kolkata n darjeeling are already done. But I was wondering what should i and how should I book for gangtok. Coz we are planning to take the Yumthang Lachung 2D 1N trip as well as nathu- la if possible. So is it a good idea to reach gangtok n then search a hotel?
Also has anybody been to yumthang in the last few days? Is it possible? the weather?
I m expecting a speedy reply.. PLZ PLZ PLZ

Cherry Guest house in Gangtok..amazing place..stayed there in June this year..

A very basic but clean one is Shilton Lodge..

thanks for replying ! well what i really wanted to know is do i hv to prebook the hotel rooms or i can get a good room even after reaching there?
