I can tell you approximately. We did Lachung to Gangtok in 7-8 hours and from Gangtok to Pelling is 3 hours. I do not know how far is Lachen from gangtok but this would give you a rough idea.

Approximately the same but talk with the Jeep driver whether he can do this. You have to leave Lachen very early in the morning.

It wud be too tiring...
Lachen and Lachung are almost equidistant from Gangtok...& my journey from Lachung to Gantok took 6-7 hrs and Pelling was 3-4 hrs.. so ina single day..u will have to travel for almost 10-12 hrs...

Question Places to see in North Sikkim in 2 days??

i have 2 full days in North Sikkim and i have to fit all the places to see there in these 2 days.
Day 1: Lachung, Yumthang and Chungthang
Day 2: Chopta valley, Thangu valley, Lachen & Gurudongmar lake

1. Can someone let me know if this is feasible in 2 days?
2. Whether its better to stay in Lachung or Lachen for these 2 nights taking the 2 days sightseeing into account?
3. And how do we go about obtaining any permits required for North Sikkim. Can it be done once we get there or do we have to arrange that in Gangtok itself?

Day 1 - Gangtok to Lachen via Chungthang will take a whole day.
Day 2 - Lachen to Thangu-Chopta-Gurudomgmar and back to Lachen, if possible, proceed to Lachung via Chungthang.
Day 3 - Lachung to Yumthang and back, after lunch proceed to Gangtok and reach Gangtok in the late evening.

THIS IS THE MOST COMPACT FOR ENTIRE NORTH SIKKIM

you can proceed to Pelling the next morning from Gangtok

It is Possible

It is indeed possible to go from Lachung to Pelling in 1 day. As most of you must not be aware it is not necessary for you to come back all the way to Gangtok you take a detour before you reach Mangan and head towards Singtam, This itself will save you about 2 hours. The cab drivers would know about this road. I would suggest instead of going all the way to Pelling you should stay a night at Rabangla.... Its a upcoming tourist place and about 1-2 hours before Pelling. The Fanous Tashiding monistery is also close by to this place. After visiting this monistery the nextday you can make your way up to Pelling at ease.

Thanks Sradha but after a lot of discussion we have planned to not travel for a full day as we will be quite exhausted... should have thought abt it in the first place
