Hotels in Yuksom and Pelling - Phone Numbers, Please!

Hi,

We're travelling thru Yuksom (1N, May 20) and Pelling (2N, May 21-22). For the former, we're hearing the Tashi Gang Resort is good, and seems within our budget. For the latter, we're still unclear on a place that will fit our budget (<Rs. 1,200 per double per night).

Does anyone have the Tashi Gang (Yuksom) phone number?
Does anyone have a suggestion for Pelling, and know where I can call?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

For Pelling, I used the hotels section to narrow down to two: Garuda, and Rabdentse. Both are within our budget, so would be great if anyone who recalls seeing them cld give me a comparative.

Thanks much!

Thumbs up wow

wow. what can i say - didnt even search for your past posts, how dumb was that. I tried a general search for the keywords, ended up with waaaay too much to read and left it at that.

Anyway, one more thing I learned: your name! Janice! Nice, now I know how to address you.

Thanks, I did narrow down to this one and Garuda. From your recent trip, could you tell me which would be a better choice? I know you stayed in Rabdentse, but is the Garuda any better?

No idea abt Garuda.

From my experience @ Rabdentse, I'd say it was very good, the food is gud & the manager/owner Suman Mukherjee was a friendly & helpful person... Choice is yours

Whatever you choose, get rooms that have a good view of Kanchenjunga, thats a must...

Rabdentse it is... by default.

Thanks a lot, Radjesh as well as singsub.

Here's what happened as of today - I tried numbers of both, and got thru to Rabdentse only. Garuda's numbers perhaps I have older ones (picked them up from the listing, which is 2006).

So have asked for rooms with Rabdentse. Promise to check out both and come back to the forum wiser.

hotel tashi gang, yuksom

sorry for the delay, amateur. it was too beautiful yesterday to come to the office, where my india stuff is. i spent the better part of the day in central park, under a clear blue sky, with the narcissus, dafoddils, tulips, cherry blossoms, magnolias and every other manner of early-spring, blooming flora!

here are the numbers printed on their invoice:

tel: (03595) 241202, 241203

good luck!

I stayed at Garuda 3 years ago - 250 rups then - rooms quite adequate, but share b/room for that price. Food bland but all the food in Pelling was pretty bland.

Gosh, I'm jealous. Chennai weather is never particularly fantastic, but today just about gave me a boil on my bum, it was so hot and muggy. And well, WHEN am I gona be allowed out of my dungeon of an office, to smell ANY flowers/smog/wot-have-you?!

Hey thanks, tacita. I have got hold of Yangrigang's ph number and given a Mr Nawang Bhutia/Gen.Mgr. a call. Seems he's the one to go to for all treks, and the hotel seems to be where trekkers meet. Have you seen this place? Any thoughts? Based on which I'll cement the booking or go for Tashi gang instead...

sorry, no, not familiar with it--which means nothing, of course. i wasn't trekking, was there off-season, and chose my accommodations without much regard to budget, so i didn't investigate/exhaust all options.

btw, i came across an email from tashi gang in my old mail files: tashighangresort@yahoo.com
if you use it, be sure to specify that you're interested in the YUKSOM location, as there's another with which it's connected and i had a few go-arounds with them confirming which property i meant, a confusion about which they were profusely apologetic. very nice place, nice staff.

Hi,
Sorry I saw this thread only now...I was at Pelling earlier this month and stayed at a great hotel that's opened just 4 months ago - de Residency (we were among the first guests of the season). The manager Tapan and the staff were extremely helpful and the rooms were great (good cozy bed, mattresses room heater, geyser, good clean bath, basically all the works) with fantastic views of the Kanchenjunga.
The published tariff for the hotel is Rs.2500 if I'm right, but we got a hefty discount(we paid around half that!). Ofcourse, we went before the official start of the season, so that definitely helped!

Unfortunately I don't have the direct number of the hotel, but there was an agent - Shankar in Pelling who took us there. You can probably talk to him(# 91.97330.89273) - he can help you with this hotel's number (and other Pelling arrangements if you need that).
Hope this helps,
- JK
