Hotels in Gangtok
I am planning to visit Gangtok/Darjeeling in Feb 2010 on my honeymoon. Few hotels i have shortlisted based in research from net,the websites of respective hotels and friend's suggestion. Could any of u suggest/ comment on choice of hotels..my budget is around 2K with deluxe/suite (if come in budget) with nice view of the mountains and not very far from the city center. Further though i have for quotes from few hotels, i intend to go there without any pre booking and try for the bargain..do u think its a good option even if few hotels are already giving some discount on the rack rates? will i be able to get more discount on the spot?
Hotels in Gangtok bamboo grove, gangtok - the rooms in the pic really looks nice with excellent views..just wondering those are real or made in photoshop? The Oriental - this hotel also looks promising Hotel Sikkim Retreat Hotel Delamere Hotel Rendezvou Hotel karma Hotel Himalayan Heights Hotels in Darjeeling Hotel Anand Palace Hotel Garuda Hotel Shangrila Regency Hotel Sonar Bangla bellevue hotel darjeeling Hotel Sunflower Looking forward for your responses.. Thanx in advance.. ![]() |

I liked the Shangrila Regency in Darjeeling. Try for the top floor for the best views. The hotel is situated at the bottom of the hill, not far from the taxi stand, but within easy walking (uphill) of the major tourist sights.
In Gangtok we stayed at the Sonam Delek, on Tibet Road. Excellent hotel, and you can bargain off-season. We travelled in February 2008. Both of these hotels had heating and hot water as well as hot bags and plentiful hot chai. Yes, it was cold in Darjeeling. Less so in Gangtok. Have a great honeymoon! ![]()

I'd suggest Hotel Karma / Hotel Sonam Delek at Gangtok and at Darjeeling Sonar Bangla & Hotel Mohit are good options. ALl these hotels will be within your budget and give you what you are looking for.
Happy trip ![]() |
