hi sampath,

welcome to indiamike! i'm glad you're finding the site helpful.

i moved your thread to the sikkim forum - you're likely to get more replies here, even though your trip will also include darjeeling. a majority of travelers to sikkim include DJ in their itineraries or have at least been there.

i suggest you read as many of the sikkim threads as you can. the questions you pose have come up again and again. reading other posts and responses is a good place to start. also, get at least one guidebook and see what strikes your fancy. monasteries? sunrises? tibetology? wildlife? a guidebook - any one, even if it's old, e.g., lonely planet, rough guide, etc. - will help you define the universe of options. you can narrow it from there and then fine tune here.

so that we can offer better suggestions, can you give us an idea what your budget is for the trip? approximately how much do you wish to spend for a ghtel room per night? what your interests are? what sort of "mood" do you want for your honeymoon? languid and romantic, with lounge-friendly accommodations and room service or more people and activity?

Thanks a lot Janice, for moving my thread to the correct loc. After reading many of the threads i am sure that, i can do justice in covering all the nice places in and around darz and gangtok within 6-7days. I am interested in atleast visitng the must must see places... so kindly help me in pin pointing the places...

As i will be on honeymoon, i thnk lots of sightseeing will be strenous and tired. A limited important places would be suffiecient. I am interested in monastries and sunrises, but not wildlife. My budget for the stay and other expenses in darz and gangtok should be around 15-20k. I would be interested in some package deals for 3 nites, etc in any decent hotel will good food. I would prefer it to be more romantic and services in hotel would be preferred.

after reading the other posts i have some confusions
1) should i need to stay in pelling... to get a view of kanchenjunga...
2) or instead of pelling, i think many are suggesting Yumthang, from here do we get a good view of kanchenjunga and what are the places to see from Yumthang
3) is it better to stay in gangtok and cover Yumthang/pelling
4) i was planning to spend 3 nites each in darz and gangtok, will it be better to spend atleast 4 nites in one of these two, if so, where shld i spend 4 nites.

Kindly suggest.

Regards

Hi Sampath,
I am from bangalore.
I will be travelling to Gangtok & Darjeeling on march 1 2008. Ya, this will be a HM trip.
From Bagdogra airport, I am not yet decided which place to go first. Darjeeling or Gangtok. But i am thinking of starting with Darjeeling, spend 2 days and then move to Gangtok and stay for 4 days.
Can you please suggest an economical & neat place to stay in Darj? And also the places to see.
I have booked SonamPalgey in Gangtok. Could u suggest places to see in gantok?
Can this 2+4 days plan be made better?
I hope you will reply back within the next 3/4 days..
It will help a lot.
