Help on Yumthang tour

Hi guys,

I needed a lil info on a 3D2N tour to Yumthang.

I am planning to go to Gangtok trrow (Yep I know it's last-second planning but that's how it turned out for me!). I will be in Gangtok by 8 p.m. -ish on April 5th and wanted to do a 3 day 2 night tour to Yumthang. Could I start the very next day for this(there're two of us)?

I did contact three travel agencies- Marcopolo, Tashila and Sikkim tours. Marcopolo and Tashila responded with the following rates:

~13 K for 3D2N if we do not want to share a taxi (which is beyond my budget)
~8 K for the same if we want to share (this is a tad expensive but I can live with it)

I'm okay with sharing if it's 4 (not a gang of 10 in a jeep!)

I just wanted help on which travel agents are good (my Budget is max 8K for the 3D2N trip)? How is the acco. in Lachung in general (I believe that MarcoPolo books a room in the Snow-Lion resort which apparently is a very nice place to stay)?

I also wanted a lil dope on sharing a vehicle on such a tour? Do they take a jeep or a taxi?

Any other advice on hotels (my budget is max 1500 INR per night) is welcome!

PS: Is there any hope that one can visit the Gurdongmar lake in a 3d2n yumthang tour? The picture of the lake on the Indiamike website is really really cool.

yup .... there are packages for 3d2n gurudongmar and yumthang.
getting booking for 2 immediately won't be a problem.
if a total of 4 tourists share the vehicle then, 8k sounds decent.
there r many good hotels near the taxi stand on NH31A and on MG road.

i am going there April end,i spoke with a tour operator Mr.Prabir Sen(94340 24070). v r taking a package for 3D/2N, budget plan costs 3000/head includes fud,accomodation & Sumo(sharing). Talk with him and you'll get an idea & Gurudongmar lake is a part of the trip

It is usually a jeep. A Bolero or equivalent Mahindra, I think it is called Max.
