Help needed to plan out sikkim tour

We would be reaching gangtok from darjeeling on 31st dec , needed some help to plan my stay and trip in sikkim

31 dec- noon time reach gangtok and do local sight seeing , back to hotel

1st Jan- Early morn leave for Tsomgo lake and nathula after arranging with some tour operator. back to gangtok and some local sightseeing

2nd jan - leave for yumthang valley, which confuses me. I hv my tickets booked for 4th, back to NJP at night, so how do i go about planning my trip to yumthang and nearby places for 2 days.
My total stay in gangtok is for 4 days. help needed

Gangtok to Lachung takes almost the entire day ... starting at 9am u'll reach lachung at around 3/4pm (with lunch and a few photo breaks in between)... ya its the only way to go to yumthang

Accomodation options are quite limited at Lachung. While booking your tour with an operator check out what kind of accomodation is being offered. Talk to few operators for the best deal. Also have a look at the condition of the vehicle offered. It will be damn cold in Lachung as well as at Yumthang so take adequate woolens. Heating will be required at Lachung so check this out too.
Have a great time.

Yes.. it is via lachung.
Take about 6 hours depending on road conditions.

You can start early (7AM) from lachung, cover yumthang and zero point (dont miss this one, driver will ask for 1000 or so extra and drive up to zero point. It is worth every penny).. and then you could come back..

Also, read my post #12 in this thread; if you need more info:

to be honest ... its very difficult to predict. It all depends on the snowfall.
last year i went thr in mid december and could go about 4km beyond yumthang ... couldn't reach zero point (btw ... if u have a chance do visit zero point ... its the end of the road and a fabulous place) while ppl who went late december could go all the way.
no harm in trying ur luck .. its worth every penny

so we finally planned to cut short our stay in darjeeling for just 2 days, and then head to gangtok for 5 days so that we could see the local places, tsomgo lake and nathula, as well as go on 2 days 1 night trip to yumthang, lets see , it all depends on the weather conditions thr.
Should I be looking for a hotel on the MG road so that its easy to access the travel agents in gangtok? any suggestions?
