Does anyone know whether roads into Sikkim been repaired yet? Sikkim was reported cut off from India after flood damage to roads & bridges in early September. Does anyone know for sure whether there’s a route open again? And which routes are definitely open?

This is the first time I have heard this. Where did you learn of this problem?

I read a news item for 9 September in the local:

http://himgirinepali.com/English%20News-%20archive.htm

But this subject hasn't been raised again there, which you'd expect if it persisted. I've now seen 2 messages from people in the area that the problem has been at least partly solved.

the road from jorethang to yuksam is badly damaged ... so vehicles are taking a detour and going to yuksam via Pelling
some major roads in sikkim are maintained by the arny ... so they'll be repaired asap by the army

I have visited these area 10 days ago (from 13th to 20th Oct 2007). I visited Pelling and Ravangla. Roads were still in damaged condition (in patches) but vehicles were passing. Local authority is acting very fast to repair those patches. you can visit anyway. Please check my travel album at "http://picasaweb.google.com/arunava.majumdar/sikkim2007". You will get a glimpse of the road condition
