Hello fellow Adventurers
![]() I, along with a friend of mine are planning a trek to goecha la in mid october. I hope its a good time to be there? Thats what I figured out after reading numerous posts on this forum and blogs on the internet. I need as much information as I can collect before embarking on this trek. The itinerary I have planned is as below: Day 1: Yuksom To Tsoka - 14kms Day 2: Tsoka To Dzongri - 9kms Day 3: Dzongri to Samiti Lake - 10 kms (Including an early morning hike to Dzongri top) Day 4: Samiti, Goecha La, Kokchurong - 16kms Day 5/6: Return to Yuksom Does this itinerary sound decent? Is it extra taxing? Do we need a break? We are trying to condition our bodies for the physical strain over the next one month. Next question is regarding porters and equipment like tent/sleeping bags/cooking equipment etc. I believe all of this is available upon reaching Yuksom - do correct me if I am wrong. However I have also read that, during peak seasons most of the experienced porters are pre-booked by the tour operators. Hence is there anyway to book a porter sitting here in Bangalore? Should we buy new sleeping bags in case the ones available with them aren't clean enough? How many porters are usually required? Does the porter also serve as a guide cum coom? What is the temperature like in dzonghri, goecha la in mid october? Any suggestions for trekking shoes? How much clothing is usually required at this time of the year? Thank you all for reading my post Regards, Pratik |

Pratik,
12 of us from Bangalore did this in October 2004. Rained heavily throughout the trek .Porters, Guides and gear can be hired at Yuksom. The coldest it got was about 3 degrees at Dzongri. Send me a PM for more details. Cheers. |

You cannot camp at Samiti, you have to camp at Lamune and then make it to Goecha La .. FYI
