GANGTOK TRIP -(need ideas about places to visit)

we (me and my friend) are planning to visit Gangtok for 5days . The visiting date is between June 15th to June 19th and so we will start from Chennai by train on jun 13th , will get down in New Jalpaiguri. Are jeeps available on June 15th morning around 4.00am ? is it very frequent?. Our total budget is around 14000(two persons)and whether hotels are available for RS500 per day and we don't have any proper ideas about the places.what do u think about climate? i would be great if u all suggest the places and travel mode.?! ( suggest the places according to our budget)

3. what do u think about climate? Rain may be spoilsport!! After a shower it'll be cold, otherwise cool comfortable weather. Take light warm cloths and an umbrella

day 1 (on 15th)- Gangtok- local sight seeing (5/7 Points etc.), Book local car, point wise.

day 2 Gangtok to Tsomgo Lake-Nathu La—Baba Mandir-Gangtok , if not rains.

day 3 Gangtok—to Pelling,

day 4 pelling sight seeing'
Day 5 back to Siliguri.

Thanks a lot for information! you have specified pelling on day 3 .we have to stay at hotel in pelling for one night ?! right? .. What do you think about Pelling hotels? any suggestion?

Actually I suggested 2N stay in Pelling and from there you can back to New Jalpaiguri to have your return train (don't know the time!!).

Pelling is a small place not like gangtok, but beautiful and you can visit there -

Pemayangtse Monastery - one of the oldest monasteries of Sikkim, 2 km.
Rabdengtse Ruins -located at a walking distance from the Pemayangtse Monastery.
Changey Waterfall - 10 km away from Pelling
Kanchenjunga Falls - 25 km from Pelling, small steps which lead to the base.
Sewaro Rock Garden- 3 KM from Pelling and 30 minutes drive.
Rembi Water fall -just 2 KM before the Sewaro Rock garden
Khechuperi wishing lake- After 3 KM from Sewaro Rock garden, a Y junction, then Kangchenjunga water fall is 8 KM and Khechuperi wishing lake is 9 KM.


There are hotels in pelling and you can try to book from Gantok too according to your budget.

OR if the weather likes to smile and shine then, you can go for package tour from Gangtok to Lachung-Yumthang-Zero point-lachung-Gangtok OR Gangtok-Lachen-Gurudongmar-lachen-Gangtok, if fits with your budget and timing.

Else Pelling will be good.

Thanks we will get back the train on 19th evening around 7clock in new jalpaiguri.. I m freelancing photographer and so let me know some scenic places too :-) like tea estates and some beautiful landscapes.. Is it all on the way to Gangtok and peeling ?

On your return journey to NJP from Pelling, go through Mirik... It'll serve your purpose.

"Duronto Jajabar" is right as always.......but better to avoid if raining............why not try "Namchi" it'll almost on the way to NJP?

Thanks for information .. Is there any language problem on der? Because we are from south india . Is it ok to manage with english ? What are the xerox copies to be taken for nathula pass ?

You have to take original of at least one person.

Yeh... I'll not say that language will not be problem!!! but you can manage with English.

To some places, you can get share jeep. For local sight seeing talk to drivers or Hotel person.

the places you mentioned to visit, are easily accessible by public transport and sharing basis ......... e.g. (except Pelling sightseeing)

Thanks a lot friends!! we have a plan to visit pelling and stay for one or two night. Can you list the hotels in pelling?(budget is rs500 for one day). we would like to know the cost of travel through shared vehicle and car for local sight seeing. we will reach gangtok by friday afternoon and Our plan includes local sight seeing on friday evening , Nathula pass on saturday morning and remaining places of gangtok on sunday . We will start on monday morning to reach Pelling and we will spend in pelling for local sight seeing and we will start to come back new jalpaiguri on tuesday afternoon..

We need to know which travel mode is better to visit nathula pass , gangtok to pelling and pelling local sight seeing and can you guest the prices of shared vehicles and private cab.
