Gangtok and Darjeeling in Dec
I am planning to book a flight arriving in Bagdogra midday on the 23rd of Dec and leaving midday on the 27th. I am hoping to see Gangtok, Darjeeling, or both. This is the itinerary I was thinking of
23rd, upon arrival take a helicopter to Gangtok 24th, tour Gangtok and surrounding area 25th, hire a car to Darjeeling 26th, tour Darjeeling 27th, hire a car to Bagdogra airport for my flight back to Dehli Is this a decent way to see the region? Should I concentrate on one city instead of trying to see both? |

Hmm..ur travel plans seems to be ok but I would personally go for just Gangtok n near by places like Lachung, Yumthang and Pelling.
Though you havent asked for but I'd suggest Mayfair resort for your accommodation at Gangtok..Its simply lovely. |

Your trip is possible. For Gangtok you need atleast 2 days full. 1 day for Gangtok local and Rumtek monastery 1 day for Tsomgo Babamandir. But you have to check whether Tsomgo is accessible in that time. But Gangtok is another capital city. Darjeeling is better place according to me.

How great is the risk of snow? Is it possible that the road between Darjeeling and Bagdogra could get closed by weather while I am there? I fly out of Delhi to return to the US at 2am on the 29th. Is there any real risk of being stranded in Darjeeling?

Between Sikkim and Darjeeling, any day i would choose sikkim.
Choose either of them, spend your time and enjoy the natural beauty. ribhu |

I do not think that you will be stranded for the entire day. Though there may be some snow falls during night.

Between Gangtok and Darjeeling, i would suggest you to go directly to Gangtok. You can either visit places around gangtok (tsomgo, Rumtek, etc) or go to a 2d/3d trip to North sikkim.
Don't think that the snowfall could be so heavy to leave tou stranded in Baghdogra. |
