Do you want to visit Darjeeling and Gangtok only or plan to visit other places. If it is only these two cities you don't need a tour operator.

if you want to stay in gangtok and Darjeeling then you do not need any operators..however if you want to go on other tours from Gangtok then you will need one..
Even from Gangtok you can go for a day tour or Chhangu Lake, Baba Mandir and Nathula pass, you would need to book only a day prior to when you plan to go.. |

Don't prebook. Go to Gangtok, there are many operators, check rates, condition of vehicles etc. Bargain for better rates.

Your plan seem quite tight one. But if all these places are in your priority list then its OK. Otherwise I would have advised you to Add North sikkim instead of Mirik. There is two options for North sikkim. 1.One night and two days 2.two nights and three days. And the March is a perfect time to visit this place i.e,Yumthang Valley and others. This would be your best bet. Well Its you to decide. Whatever it is wish you a nice and comfortable journey. Good LUck. bye |

I would have skipped Darjeeling and Mirik altogether and include north Sikkim any day.

Thanks for your reply. Mirik was suggested by someone so i added it into my plan. I dont have any Idea about these places. So shall i add Yumthang? someone has suggested to visit Pelling also. So if I would like to include both Yumthang & Pelling and skip Darjeeling, would I be able to cover all these in 7days(6nights)?
I hope both(Yumthang & Pelling) wont be closed in March. Please advise. And again same question, do I need to book a tour for these? Thanks. |

your plan is perfect except Ravangla. Only pelling will do otherwise it would become a touch and go schedule. ![]() |

If you have a cab with you it can be done and in fact I did it. Ravangla is a very beautiful and quiet place and the view of Kanchenjungha at sun rise is simply awsome.

Good that you have decided only 3 places for this trip. if you take my advice then I would say : 1.NJP to Gangtok (N)-->Try to book for your trip to North Sikkim 1night 2days to Lachung or Lachen. 2.Visit Lachung / Lachen (N) 3.Visit Yumthang/zero point/etc or Gurudongmar lake / Chopta Valley (if lachen)and head back to Gangtok (N) 4.Try local sightseing (only 7 points)including Rumtek Monastry and then hang out in the evening in Gangtok Streets and some shopping too ! he he... 5.try Tsomgo lake / Nathula / Baba mandir trip and back (N) 6.To Pelling (N) 7.Local Sight seeing (N) 8.Transfer to NJP. Now it going to be 8days !!! Try this....worth it. It is you to decide whether visit Lachung or Lachen. Lachung is for Yumthang Valley and March is ideal time to visit this place and Zero point is the last point of India at a height of approx 16000 ft. with biting cold and freezing stream. for visiting Zero Point you have to cough up approx.150-200 each. and in Lachen you can see the sacred Lake Gurudongmar at 17800ft.situated in a Plateu like in Leh. and offcourse Chopta Valley. In pelling there is a lot of places to visit. Its calm and cool and full of sight seeing. Now if you want to visit both Lachung and Lachen that will be greeaatttt. Then you have to cut short your visit to pelling. But it all depends on you. whether you like heights and rugged terrain, adventurous and Rhododendrons/primula etc and snow of north sikkim or Cool and Calm of Pelling. I would say if you like lofty heights / Adventure / snows then go for Total North sikkim tour i.e, 2Nights and 3Days in North sikkim. Its : 1.Lachung (N) 2.Sightseeing and transfer to Lachen (N) 3.Sightseeing and transfer to Gangtok. I bet this visit will be a mesmerizing one and will go down your memory lane. Enough for now ......ha ha Good luck byeeee |
