cost of yumthang tour

Hi Folks,

I heard a lot about the places in gangtok and the yumthang valley. Could anyone let me know the cost of Yumthang tour per person (2 days and 1 night).

Also please let me know about the permit details like, how much time does it take to get the permit to yumthang tour. If i were to reach gangtok in the evening and can i start for yumthang tour next day morning with permit arranged?

Appreciate you help in this regard.

Thanks,
victory21.

Most probably cost is Rs.1200/-per person more or less. Night stay is at lachung.Other things will be arranged by the tour operator. If you reach Gangtok by evening, probably it will be bit difficult.

Thanks for your response. If getting immediate permit to Yumthang is difficult then I could go to Changu Lake/Nathula next day and then try to go to yumthang the day after? Is this possible.

Please let me know

But I thought nathu-La permits are more stringent than Yumthang or is it a false impression?

i am in sikkim currently (off season).

the running costs p person for yumthang at this time is Rs.700.
will be rs.1200 in mar/apr

nathula/changu lake is Rs.400
will be rs.600/700 in mar /apr

in both the cases, the tour operator arranges for permits without any hassles.

If you reach Gangtok during the day, the tour operator could possibily arrange for your permit (that is if you do not pre-book). I remember the cost of 3 days two night for Yumthang and Gurudongmar was quoted to me as 2000 upwards per person but we did not shop around and went just with the first tour operator we found in Gangtok.

Sorry can't help you with the third one.

Mainak, I just visited Yumthang (and Zero Point beyond Yumthang) and Nathu-La as part of package tour and we roamed around Pelling and Gangtok on our own. So, I am really sorry I have no idea about Cholamu Lake but what pictures I can see on the internet, the lake looks beautiful. Hope you will be able to visit it.

there's only one package being offered curently to north sikkim, on a share basis - 2 days 1 nt to Yumthang. [overnite stopover at lachung]
this would cost 700 per head.
the 3 day/2nt trip option is not offered on a sharing basis since it is off season.

gurudongmar is thru the lachen side, which is blocked i believe.
if you would like to go there, you need to book a tour for yourselves exclusively. this would cost 5000 upwards.

the yumthang trip starts from GTK at 8 am and returns next day at 8.30 pm

i met with a few travel agents. i liked the look of a couple.

1. silk route travels [next to sikkim tourism centre, on MG Marg]
2. Souvenir treks [again on MG Marg, it is above a shop of the same name]

both the agencies had people in the know and seemed decently well equipped to handle queries.

[not sure abt cholamu lake]
