Comprehensive Information for a North Sikkim Trip!!
Quote:
Most quotes I received were in the range of 18,500 for 2N/3D in end-April. Fortuna was in the same range and I've managed to bring it down by 1000 odd rupees. Yet to make the booking since I feel even that to be high! I wonder how these guys pull out different numbers for different people
Actually , people from Mr Prabir Sen's agency told me that it was a 'mistake'. They offered us 19800 now.. But now we have decided to reach Gangtok and then do the bookings for North Sikkim..since none of the operators would return the money incase the roads to North Sikkim are closed due to snowfall..

hi,
is it true tat Nathula Pass is not open on all days n only on wednesday, thursday and weekends.
May i know how much would the Nathula pass, tsongo lake and other sightseeing on the way would cost. Are this arranged on sharing basis?
Mod Note
Please avoid the use of SMS or chat lingo here and take the time to spell out all your words in full English, avoiding text abbreviations. Kindly write "and" rather than "n" and "that" instead of "tat".

hi all,
i have been planning the schedule for N.sikkim and west sikkim since last week.
IM and all the IMers have been really helpful, specially all the posts from pkanti, kshil, sagarneel, cutiepie...
I was all set with the plan, however knowing that Nathula is open on selected days only has brought me to square one.
I will be reaching NJP on 13 May, Sunday morning and planning for 3N/4D package for N.Sikkim, sightseeing and stay in Gangtok, stay in Kaluk and Pelling for a day or two. I have to board the train back to Kolkata on 21 May, Monday night.
Please give me some suggestions how to plan this itenary so that i can visit Nathula on Wednesday, Thursday or Weekends. Also will it be advisible to visit Kaluk and Pelling first and then come to Gangtok? Will i get the transport easily for Kaluk from NJP and for Gangtok from Pelling?
I am sorry for so many queries. Please suggest.

Hi again
This is how my Sikkim itinenary looks like -
Day 1- 14th April - Reach NJP around 7 am. Hire a cab, reach Gangtok. After checkin-in (perhaps in Cherry Guest House), head toward MG road to book half day s-seeing tour for Gangtok for the same day(if possible and feasible), Tshango Lake, Nathula excursion for the next day and the North Sikkim tour from 16th to 19th April.
Start the half day Gangtok s-seeing after lunch.
Day 2- 15th April - Tshango lake, Baba Mandir, Nathula excursion
Day 3 - 16th April - Start early from Gangtok and proceed towards Lachen. O/N at Lachen
Day 4 - 17th April - Visit Gurudongmar lake and proceed towards Lachung after lunch. O/N at Lachung.
Day 5 - 18th April - Yumthang valley and Zeropoint excursion. Evening visit the Lachung monastry and explore the village. O/N at Lachung.
Day 6 - 19th April - Morning visit Katao and start the downward journey to Gangtok visiting attractions enroute. Reach Gangtok by early evening. Evening stroll arnd MG road. O/N at Gangtok (Mintokling Guest House)
Day 7 - 20th April - Start return journey from Gangtok to Bagdogra to catch flight at 1.00 pm.
How does it look to you all ? Will I be able to do the Gangtok sightseeing the same day after arriving in Gangtok (on day 1) ? Any changes anyone would like to suggest based on your experiences ?
