Arupda,

I think Mr. Ghosal is talking about Laxman Chowk for Sunrise. If you stay in Lungthung you need not go to laxman chowk as the sunrise view from Thambi is all the same. If you are staying in Zuluk you can go to Thambi or Laxman Chowk which will cost 1200 to 1500. When I booked from Travel Funda I got a very clear picture about the fact. They told me that why should I spend money if I stay at lungthung as I will get the same view in Thambi and Laxman chowk. Generally the home stay and car owners make money from it. They do not give the clear idea. Even I got the information that at some bend of mountain with no name the driver can tell you this is the sunrise point if from there clear view is got.
You are absolutely right there is no need to go to Laxman Chowk for Sunrise. I knew it before going.

So kushik1984....With all these input, I would suggest you not to get fooled like us and stay at Lungthung for sunrise. Zuluk has nothing to offer in terms of sight seeing or view but the staying arrangements are better than Lungthung. Oh yes...since your trip plan is in November, Lungthung would be colder than Zuluk, the altitude being at a higher side and the position of homestays are just on the slide of hill with no obstruction and hence plenty of windflow.

Arup,
Just to crosscheck the rates for my upcoming tour I called up one of the driver of Silk Route. He is saying that in October and November the per day rate of any car will be 4K to 5K and there is no luxury SUV in the region. If I want he will arrange it from somewhere else and that will cost me 1k more per day and permit will be 500/- extra.
Then I called Mr. Bhutia he also said no luxury SUV is there and if taken from Siliguri it will cost much more as the permit for this region will be very costly.
We all are age old people so we badly need a Innova or a Xylo, can be Scorpio also.
Mr. Bhutia also told me that from this season the room cost is going higher.
Now my question to you is as I got a rate from Travel Funda which is lower is that dependable or something else will happen. They told me that they will provide a Luxury SUV. Will that really happen? I am very very confused. I am taking my friends with me and I am arranging everything. So can you please suggest?

I think they will surely provide you the SUV if it is included in the package offered by them. They have a huge network in that area. So please don't get confused by the rates offered by other agencies

Thanks Arup for your feedback. Actually as per India Mike reviews generally direct homestays or drivers give lower rate. It is understandable as the agencies giving service, taking risks and they have overhead costs also. And more over they are in Kolkata and sending money to a person who is sitting at top of the hill is risky to me. So if the agencies quote higher it is OK. As I read in IM TF's qoutation almost matches the direct ones.
But in this case the driver is asking a huge amount directly so I am confused. Today I was searching the reviews and found that they provided SUV to others also. But though the team has old people so I am in dilemma.

Travel Funda provides business to these people round the year and hence they work with them at a fixed rate. For people like us, we are one timer to them. I've personally inquired about TF's reputation during my trip with the different homestay owners and everbody gave possitve feedback about them. I've seen SUVs plying in this route. Its unusual that drivers are tentaive on getting the SUVs though the cost would higher by atleast 1K/per compare to Max or Bolero.

Thanks Ghoshal for your reply.
Actually we the senior members have a responsibility to share the experience for the others. The SUV is the mail concern for us. That is why I am asking all these questions.

You know even I heard that a very well known home stay owner (I don't want take his name in public forum)asked for more money by his driver at NJP railway station and refused to move before receiving the amount. Even I read in IM that some of them said that he didn't receive the advance. If these kind of things start happening in any place the tourism of that place will hamper. The people who love to travel like us will be the looser in this situation.
