Accomodation in Rumtek

Hi guys,
I am planning to do a trip to Rumtek. More than sight seeing, I am keen on learning some concepts of Buddhism. I have heard that we can stay for 5 days at Rumtek (Rs 100/day) and attend some classes with the Monks. Anyone has any idea about the same ? Please help me out

You can check at the Rumtek monastery, but there are hotels available in Rumtek as well

Hi backpacker,
As mentioned, I am more keen to experience the life of the monks. So hence I wanted to stay there at Rumtek. I have been looking for contact information of Rumtek. I heard we can just reach there and book an acco. Is that possible ?

Im not sure if you can stay there..why dont you check www.rumtek.org or http://www.rumtek.org/mn/mn00.html

There are few hotels inside the monastry campus which provide rooms at 100 to 150/- now.You should probably get them at this time.Yes you can mingle with monks and learn from them,they are very friendly.to reach rumtek,you need to hop in a service jeep which runs from the main taxi stand just below MG Marg,near police head quater,Rs30per seat,likely chances of getting it in ht emornings and evenings but not too late after 4 or so.
