1. Guide-free treks?

I am a veteran of Nepal and Ladakh trekking, and can't imaging having to hire a guide to keep me company as I poke around Sikkim.

Anyone know which treks can be done without guides? Do they require permits? (I'll happily pay for the permit, just don't want company.)

I will be in Sikkim March-April.

Are there places to sleep like on the Annapurna? Or, are there villages that one can ask to sleep in like the Zanskar trail? Food along the way?

Simply looking for a "teahouse trek," several shorter ones (3-5 days) or one longer one (8-20 days).

All info most appreciated.

Thumbs up tea house treks

Tea House treks in India are for max 6 days or seven days.

Read about them here.

Its nothing like Nepal. You'd better go to Nepal for the real experience.

For example, Annapurna Circuit + Base camp would take min 21 days with tea houses all along the way. No such thing here.

Even the existing acco at places is a simple village hut with tea and maggi noodles for "food".... with the occasional egg or rice or daal sometimes.

HAPPY TEA HOUSE TREKKING !!!
