Hey guys

This is my first post here, I hope you like it. I am sharing these four scams from my experience, and I am sure that you may have experienced some or maybe all 4 of them.

1. The "Disaster" scam - yeah, that's what he said to me, I still remember when I asked my taxi driver to take me to hotel embassy in Ajmer. My hotel had been burnt down and existed no more. I am naive I confess but not enough to believe you Mr. Driver. It does not going to place and see for yourself even if your driver is honest and the place exists no more.

2. Different note scam - Another scam related to taxi drivers. Here, the taxi driver will try to make you believe that the money that you gave him a 500 rs note when in reality you gave him a 1000. This happened to father when I was small but I still remember it. The taxi driver after accepting the 1000rs note, reached out to his wallet to give us the change but he gave an amount as if we gave him an 500 rs note. and you have no way to prove that you gave him a 1000rs note because he has already kept in his wallet so even if you say you gave him a thousand he will show a 500 rs note and say it's yours. Don't fall for this if this ever happens to you and don't succumb. Threaten to call the police if necessary.

3. the devil in angel's skin SCAM- okay, that is an exaggeration. priests/Baba's at temples at famous temple towns like varanasi and pushkar will approach you to offer their blessings. After you gratefully take them, you are asked for money. This is nothing short of extortion. Please BEWARE especially foreign travelers.

4. "buy me some milk" scam- poor people will approach you asking them to buy some milk. after you buy them some milk, feel good and leave, he will most likely return that product for a commission from the shop owner. I have fallen for this scam but got to know about it later.

I hope you find this information usefull and have a safe journey to Incredible India.

A Brahmin who has experienced all four scams is a Chaturvedi, a Kshatriya a Chakravartin. Travellers from all over the world come to India for a four-scam yatra.

This scam was tried on me on my first visit to India. Arrived at Bombay Airport maybe 3 am and went outside to get a taxi not knowing about the pre-paid inside. 2 Indian guys were in the front seat. They asked me if I wanted to change money. I said ok( I know stupid). He gave me the rupees and I gave him $100us. After a little while he tells me he changed his mind and tries to give me $1 back. I said I gave you 100 not 1! I don't have a 1 dollar bill. He then shuts up and drives me to a hotel that he surely got a commission from, but it was like $20us with tv, air con. so it was ok for a night. Next night moved to Colaba.

This is not an Indian scam, it's a Global scam.
