Just be sensible about when you leave it & under what circumstances. Remember not everyone in India is waiting for an opportunity to rob you, theres far more good people than bad around,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, |

I have a Pacsafe, they are great, a little extra weight for alot of protection and peace of mind. You can still carry your pack as normal even when they are fitted. Comes with sturdy padlock which i promptly lost the key for and nearly got stuck on a train. I now have a good combo lock for it. In all my years of travel and over 40 countries I have never had my pack stolen. I highly recomend this item. They also stop your pack being the one getting slashed open when on the roof of a bus while you are inside the bus. check them out at www.pac-safe.com
They make a good lockable money belt also, with re enforcing cable and slash proof material. God! i sound like I work for the company! Happy trails, T |

Their new website looks pretty good. The money belt and belt pack look pretty tempting for next time I go. hmm.

Solo on the beach....
..and that's another of my pre-travel worries! I've spent almost 2 months in Kovalam ten years ago...and i really can't remember now how the heck did i take care of my money pouch (the one that goes underneath the trousers filled with passport, tickets, TCs etc) while on the beach... Anybody can "refresh" my memory on how to deal with this issue? Also.. i really can't remember having this money pouch with me all the time in such a hot and sweaty weather.. ![]() Btw: i probably have to specify that i wasn't staying in an expensive hotel, but in a relaxed and small guest house somewhere behind the beach.. basically a simple clean room with toilet/shower included inside.

re Pacsafe products
I used their travelsafe 100 during my trip last year and found it really handy in Youth Hostels, dorms New Zealand) and cheap hotels in Thailand. I just fixed it to something solid in the room. I used a coded padlock instead of the one supplied. When on the beach I attached it to a tree or fixed structure and buried it in some sand (don't forget it when you leave the beach!!). |
