Security For Hire
Hi,
I am working on research for a film production company interested in filming in India. One question that keeps coming up is they want to hire a few security guards for all of their shoots. While this might seem like a good idea for foreigners who have never been to india, as someone who has been there I sort of think it is silly to hire security, especially when a security guard might be just as easy to pay off as any other person. Either way, has anyone dealt with something like this before? I can't find any information on hiring security guards (unarmed) in india, and I think it would just be easier to trust people and have crew members from the company just watch their own stuff. |

There are pan India security companies which hire out unarmed 'guards' for anything - at ATMs, residential security, office security etc.
Group 4 is one such (google for the city), well reputed and expensive. Having dealt with them (and others) often, I can tell you they aren't too good, but in the context of your requirements, may help in crowd control. There are many others.

Thanks, Group 4 seems to have plenty of resources on security guards for individual cities. However, are there any websites where I can find contact information, or do all arrangements have to be made in-person or by phone within india?
Edit: Nevermind, it seems I can contact G4S for just about anything, this should work, and it's probably the most expensive security but I guess you get what you pay for! Thanks! |

Other advantage is that if you have multiple cities to consider, you can go thorugh one agency with some confidence.
If I were you, I would bargain over their prices, specially if the business was large or regular. |

"Security" in India is more about shooing off the beggars and petty thieves who will descend on your set. It's all very normal.

As Capt says, expect the security to do more of a crows control.
what security threats are you percieving? G4S and TOPS are the major security providers in India with expertisde in event management, VIP security ,etc. including for film and TV shootings. www.topsgrup.com/topsdetectives.htm http://www.g4s.com/in.htm Both of them have fair network spread to cover most of the states. Cheers
