another possibility (and i don't mean to carry on a debate here) is the one that i considered when i first read the posting, that sometimes seven beers really do catch up with you, even if you are used to it. factors such as empty stomach or maybe even your mood can make things fluctuate. it's happened to me at home when i have been pacing myself on alcohol throughout but then somebody buys me a shot and it puts me over the edge (i believe the op mentioned a shot as well). still, a blackout is a pretty rare occurance unless one is extremely intoxicated so i think this is a fair warning.
but i would also like to hear more from the op |

A point to keep in mind is that drinking a large quantity of alcohol while you are on some form of medication can cause complete blackouts.

OK, I've edited out the name of the bar, so we can consider this thread to be a warning of what can happen in any bar.

It will be nearly 4 days if I were to delete the thread. (no need to now, see above post) It also sounds like MR DAVE isn't 100% sure of what happened, if it were me I'd wan't to keep an eye on the thread to see if others had a similar experience. sometimes Ive drank 10 drinks and feel okay. Others Ive had a couple and been absolutely ****erd.
If you woke up in bed, no cuts and bruises still with two kidneys then I would consider it a result. I had a similar experience in a hotel in Goa, got talking to a stranger had a few drinks and woke up the next morning in bed with no recolection of how i got to the hotel room. I thought he must have drugged me. But later i just realised it was one of those nights. I avioded that man for the rest of the duration of my stay in that particular hotel. In hindsight Im sure he was glad I didnt bother him again.

People have to rember that alcohol is a drug (and a very powerful one at that) and no drug is 100% predictable 100% of the time.

Not fair to have deleted the name of the bar given out by the OP. Now I don't know which bar to avoid in Palolem, and I'll end up not enjoying any drinks at all the bars!

Yes, I have been reading this thread with interest and appreciate all your comments and concerns. I would of replied earlier but I got myself a notorious Goa tattoo thats a whole different thread in its self.
Perhaps it was wrong to name the bar in question but I felt at the time it was important to inform people be aware of your surroundings and be careful. I can't remember all too much about the night and would off passed it of as a great night but the guest house owner informed me off the incident of the two gentleman and it made me think. I'm a 18 stone chap and can surly knock back some pints which I had done many times here in Palolem, but that night was completely different. Never in all my years of drinking have I had no recollection of the events of the night before which is quite worrying. And condidering I only spent two hours at the bar wouldn't give me ample time to be in the state I was in. Perhaps I lost some money that night and perhaps I got a left back to my accommodation so they could steal my valuables, who knows. I was not going accuse because I don't know the facts. All I know is that I have never been that intoxicated in all my life and only on seven kings (three and a half pints) and a single shot of honey bee. Dave. |
