If you're on a budget and want to pay a fair price, take a train! Might save on hotel money also.
No matter what you do, a car will never be as cheap as the train in Sl or even AC3-class. If you want to take a car, visit a couple of taxi stands in Delhi and ask for prices so you can compare but don't expect miracles because gas isn't cheap and road conditions are harsh on the cars, which reflects in the prices. For long distance drives to popular destinations some stands have rates that are mentioned outside but it'll be in devanagari script so unless you can read that it's not a big help. Delhi-Varanasi in one day by car is absolutely impossible, I don't even know if you can do it in 2 days. Take a plane or the night train from Delhi. |
