Most of the winter trekking/climbing gear In Dharamsala comes from Nepal. It is ok if you use it for a while. After which it will fall apart. Normally you can get one trek out of them. The performance is not that good.

Comparatively. I think GP may have first hand experience? I have used original north face gear and its great (though I find my columbia parka more comfy). I've only seen TNF in Mcllo and could tell by the quality of material that it was fake. I didnt try it.

I still have original North Face bum bag bought in 1983 still going strong. Fake stuff has its own place and lots of people rely on the cheap gear. If you can afford it, always buy original.

The fake brand named stuff you find all over India and Nepal can have any level of quality, becuase any tailor or sweatshop can make anything and put any logo on it. So don't bother asking us if the quality is good. You have to look at it yourself!

Sometimes it's genuine stuff that just "fell off the back of a lorry".
