Thumbs down Indian parents

hi ,

I am actually surprised as i didnt see much of criticism of indian parents !!

When, india - the country, indian people, and every aspect of the society is being critisized, why spare the indian parents!!

please guys do the right thing, continue critisizing as most people did in this forum of scams and annoyances in india.

As far as i am concerned , indian parents are the best, if they are conservative, that actually helping you.

namaste!!

I too tend to agree with sonalee though I have not watched the video and I dont want to watch it too.. Looks like Rajive is in US and is proud of the parents there... The sacrifices Indian Parents make are phenominal. Stop all this nonsense and post some good things about this beautiful country.

sonale it depends what u call critisism.. you have to admit that there are issues in India...but every country all over the world has its issues and speaking about them (or you can call it critisizing) might eventually change things or at least relieve the flustration. I have been here over a year, and despite my love for this country, there are so many things which still drive me mad...

regarding Indian parents...see from perspective of foreigner, Indian parents seem to be 'too' controling, planning nearly every aspect of their children(again sorry for generalisation just to give an example),... from your pespective mine (foreign) parents could be negligent and not caring enough ...
preception changes according to culture and openess of the mind...

My husband grew up with Indian parents who weren't controlling and there were many negative consequences in his life because of it.

Now we are controlling parents and proud of it--you have to be in this day and age. It's either control your kids or something or someone else will!

The part about getting all A's reminded me so much of ourselves! Be proud of it and have a good laugh with the video. The way Indian parents are is one of the things that makes India great!

That might be why it is called the scams and annoyances section .

You must have noticed the "We Love India" nature of the rest of the forum. In fact, we are sometimes accused of keeping our rose-tinted spectacles firmly on our noses.

Honestly, we try for the balanced view
