Taking the thread back to what the OP put down (least favorite places in India), I'm not returning to:

- Mussoorie, basically because it's geared toward local tourists, which is not what I want to experience while on holiday, don't need the noise, kitch, pollution and overpriced hotels.
- Goa: I went back during a business trip last year and was shocked to see how tourists (this time westerners) had screwed up the place.
- Agra: a hellhole if ever there was one. The pox on the Taj that makes sure that every visitor I get in Delhi wants to go there.

Frankly, although I like India and enjoy certain places immensely (Leh and Thanjavur to name but 2), I only take short breaks of max. 5 days in India. As my -Indian-neighbor says: 'If you want a relaxing holiday without any hassles and which provides good value for money, go to Thailand' For me it doesn't have to be Thailand but I do need to escape India from time to time.

I never want to see Anjuna flee market again as long as i live ,because of..The worst sort of selling techniques constantly evolving as a consequence of brain dead tourists, and so many "hip". forigners selling stuff for which they have no right.
The sad hip posers that have been there tooooooooo long and think they are cool.

For me Goa and Pushkar...mostly because of the posers, package tourists and the "hippy trail" tourists who talk mumbo jumbo all day long.

A number of posts have been deleted here (offensiveness, argumentativeness, discussing moderation, and generally caught in the backwash).

Osmanabad, in SW corner of Maharastra. A macho town (eg. few women spotted in the streets) with a grotty main drag and sleazy types. I was even pulled up by a police man on a motor bike, who was trying to be intimidating towards this foreign female, like he was savouring the prospect of playing a cat and mouse game. But I'm no mouse, and a look conveyed a thousand words that saw him on his way.

Oh, almost forgot, I was pickpocketed there too, whilst getting on a bus. A little girl was reaching into my bag and passing the stuff to her mother....nothing valuable, just sunglasses and toiletries.I caught them at the toothpaste and soap stage, actually lifting the child's hand out of my bag and retrieving the tootpaste and soap from her hand. At this, The mother smiled adoringly at the child as she said "Baby", and both took off. Damn it, I missed those sunglasses.
