I don't know whether to laugh or cry... So many of the cities we'll be visiting in September are on the "hated" list...

Mumbai
Ahmadabad
Udaipur
Jodhpur
Jaisalmer
Jaipur
Agra
Khajuraho
Varanasi
Amritsar
Delhi

Let the flood gates open...

I wouldn't worry too much about it, though I can see that I wouldn't really want to visit 6 cities on that list again.

One (wo)man's tout is another man's poison.

Which ones and why, pls? I think it'll be fun to know what annoyed others and where.

I'm not worried at all, I'm just doing some "what else to expect when you're planning a trip to India" thing

Keep in mind that if the question was "I wouldn't go there even once", the answers may be different.

Anyhow, I wouldn't really want to go again to

Mumbai
Ahmadabad
Jaipur
Agra
Varanasi
Amritsar

big cities, crowded, some of them toutish (agra, jaipur), one of them annoying (varanasi).

Delhi is, now, as far as possible, transit or visiting family.

my Delhi is destroyed.

But, have to say that for a big city it is worth a tourist's visit or two. Pity I don't much care for the culture of the city. (and no, I am not elaborating unless somebody buys me a drink )

Welcome to the meetup captain !!

And seeing your list, I am afraid that you are done with almost all Indian cities. Hopefully you have not entered a phase of your life where people like to live in Nostalgia itself..

for everything else except a drink, yes.
a drink, like murder, is personal

Btw shashank, if you notice, many of those cities on my list are either tourist traps, or big and noisy and hassling, without many redeeming features.

Very true captain, but I fail to recall a 'city' in India which doesn't fit the criteria you specified.

In Rio, you cannot sunbathe without being pestered by people selling everything. If your eyes are closed, they will at least try to get you to open them. It became a joke at some point, we weren't bothered by them anymore

The most annoying thing was, they whistle sooooo much to each other (and possibly to you) to signal something and/or get attention!

Bingo.

Given a choice, and as a tourist, I can't think of any big city I would really want to revisit.
