If you want to come up against 'quotas' --- try parking your car illegally for a few seconds in London. It could cost you hundreds of pounds, and all be totally legal
![]() A thread (maybe a poll, but I don't like them much) on what visitors expect from the police in India would be interesting.

Ummm likewise cyberhippie because my exit plan for this type of problem may well be the more Indian way to deal with it. Any Indian would go apeshit if somebody tried that crap on them. They would be dialing numbers, throwing names, securing alliances within earshot. Nawww? You should know from all your experience that those scams are just a game of "chicken" or "bluff" and the moment you start throwing legal terms, lawyers, Chief Minister's contact jargon at them, these miscreants will vanish into the night. Unless you really have something to hide, why would you just bend over(bow ) to their games? Scream bloody murder - make friends/secure a lawyer that you can contact at will if you feel you are susceptable to these type of acts. Be alert, stay awake and have an exit plan - a plan B ..... otherwise you really are a bit of a dope. ![]()

I hope none of us has much experience dealing with Indian police!
And I hope even more that we don't get it. But I have learnt so far that name-dropping and cash are the things that are likely to get you somewhere (or out of) an Indian police station. Even to report her lost passport, my wife first found a friend with a senior police contact, who phoned the station she had to go to to ensure that she was looked after. |

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight...there seems to be a bit of local politics here. I didn't mean to start an "I've got a bigger India cock than you" battle.
I reckon this thread has run its course. Laters. EDIT NOTE: welcome to the mod team Rogue! rab
